Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia is currently on a lengthy and controversial visit to Ukraine.
It seems he likes expensive wristwatches..
p.s. President Barack Obama's favourite watch costs about 100 times less...
p.p.s. ..it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God...
The only controversy is with Yushchenko who continues to promote divison and not unity in Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteMissing from the debate and various articles is the percentage of Ukrainians who are actively seeking to divide the orthodox Church. Could you imagine the outrage if Ireland or Poland sought independence from the Catholic Church in Rome?
The only ones seeking separation of the church are a ultra-nationalist minority . Their agenda has nothing to do with Christianity but more to do with politics of division and anti Russian sentiments.
Any discussion as to the formation and structure of the church in Ukraine is a decision of the church. Those seeking to divide the church motives are not born out of concern for spiritual Christian values. The issue of separation and division of the Church on nationalistic boundaries should not be used as a blunt political tool.
Yushchenko is supposed to represent all of Ukraine should not be engaged in this debate. by doing so he has seriously undermined the role of the office of the president
All Christians should be united under the one banner and belief in the Christian faith.
Expensive Halloween costumes require expensive $34,000 watches - French or Belgian or Swiss - especially when one claims to be the "father" of all Slavic orthodoxy.
ReplyDeleteAnd that everyone should bow down to the man in the Halloween costume.
After all, why would any good homo sovieticus bow down to anyone wearing a cheap watch?
Or not wearing a watch at all, like Jesus?
HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS PRICELESS!

Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill has called on all people to practice Christian asceticism, which he said would help make consumer society spiritual and moral.
"It's very important to learn Christian asceticism. Asceticism is not life in a cave. Asceticism is not a permanent bridge. Asceticism is the ability to regulate your consumption, ideas and the state of your heart. It is a victory for a person over lust, passion, and instincts," he said live on the Inter television channel on Tuesday.
The patriarch said it was important for both rich and poor people to possess these qualities.
"The answer from the church is the following – we should learn how to control our passions. The civilization that we'll build won't then be a civilization of consumption," he said.
He also said that the current economic crisis could help people refrain from the senseless cult of consumption.
