In relation to the Russian/Ukrainian "Gas wars"
Why is it that Europe does not negoiate with Ukraine to purchase 100% of the gas crossing Ukraine/Russia's border and that they then divide up and negotiate the costs and transit fees with Ukraine. Could it be that Europe does not ant to be left holding the baby and having to pick up Ukraine's gas tab when it defaults on payment of its share?
The real issue in all this is Ukraine paying for the gas that it uses. If Europe buy all the gas at the Ukrainian border then Russia would be just as happy that Europe negotiate with Ukraine.
